Lanzarote´s Superb Scenery And Attractions
Lanzarote is a well known package holiday destination but this trend is changing now a growing number of independent tourists are starting to visit the island. Attracted by its great year round climate, breathtaking beaches and stunning surreal scenery Lanzarote boasts lots of natural wonders which were created during the 18th century by some seriously large scale volcanic activity.
Lanzarote is the fourth largest of the Canary Islands and has been a popular holiday destination since the 1970´s. It’s still going strong today too – welcoming millions of foreign tourists every year. And whist many are here to enjoy the glorious sunshine on the beach or by the pool most still find plenty of time to explore too. The island however boasts enough stunning sights to lure them away from their Lanzarote villas for at least a days sightseeing.
If you fancy a gentle stroll round one of Lanzarote's picturesque villages or perhaps skimming across the top of the waves on a jet ski, Lanzarote's outstanding range of visitor activities and attraction will be sure to please even the most demanding travellers.
Activities, attractions or a mix of both, whichever you choose make sure to include:
Rancho Texas: Rancho Texas offers an elegant blend of attractions seamless rolled into one it would seem. As the name would suggest it has a somewhat western theme and the kids will love panning for gold under the blazing sun in true western style. The park also puts on a very professional display of falconry but you'll need to keep very still as the birds seem to enjoy buzzing the audience during their flights. or perhaps Timanfaya, Fire mountain or Timanfaya National Park, whatever name you choose to give this area there is no escaping the sense of natures power that the park invokes in your mind eye. The colour of the earth and rock here has also lead to the location being chosen for many prehistoric and futuristic movies. Whilst the area is now dormant you can still enjoy a meal cooked from the heat of the mountain itself.
If these are not to your taste you could also try The Cactus Garden; As you drive by you will know that you have arrived once you spot the giant cactus which is prominent outside the garden. Inside there is an excellent collection cacti from around the world as well as a number of indigenous varieties. As the garden was designed by Cesar Manrique even if you don't fancy checking out the plants, this further example of artistic landscaping is well worth investigation. Cuevas de los Verdes and Jameos Del Agua are nearby too so the small detour if visiting these attractions is worthwhile.
The north of the island offers another spectacular green surprise – in the form of the Valley of 1000 Palms. Where villagers from Haria have created a huge swaying oasis by planting a Canarian palm for every new born child here.
