Leucorrhoea: Home remedies and Unani Management
Leucorrhoea, commonly known as whites, refers to a whitish discharge from the female genitals. Leucorrhoea is an abnormal condition of the reproductive organs of women. If not treated properly in the initial stages, it may become chronic. Recent investigations have shown that secretions from the uterus and upper part of the vagina flow down and are reabsorbed in the lower parts of the vagina. This is the normal constant flow within the female organs. The whitish discharge is, however, caused by the presence of infection in any of these tissues and a variety of other factors. Leucorrhoea condition may continue for weeks or months at a time.
Leucorrhoea does not develop suddenly in an acute form. It denotes a devitalised and toxic condition of the system generally. The condition also involves one or many parts of the reproductive organs. Whenever the body is loaded with toxins due to wrong dietary habits and the eliminative organs such as skin, bowels, lungs, and kidneys are unable to eliminate the toxins, the body produces a profuse discharge or elimination through the mucous membrane of the uterus and vagina in the form of leucorrhoea. In the case of advanced, chronic inflammatory conditions of these organs, it leads to discharge with pus, offensive in odour and colour varying from cream to yellow or light green.
In most cases there remains weekness and pain in the lumbar region and the calves. There may be itching in vaginal part and burning in urination. Most of the women suffer from constipation also.In complicated and old cases black spots below the eyes are also seen.
Home remedies: Take a mixture of Asparagus racemosus with Withania somnifera. Gives excellent result to relieve leucorrhoea. This is one of the popular home remedies for leucorrhoea.
Eat one banana with ghee twice a day is beneficial to subside the condition of leucorrhoea.
Crush betel nut with rose petals in sugar, gives good relief from leucorrhoea.
Make a decoction from ladyfinger by boiling it of 200 gm in a lit of water, boil it to half. Filter it. Add sugar to taste and drink 70ml/dose at an interval of 3 hrs. It is an effective home remedy for leucorrhoea.
Prepare a douche from walnut tree leaves. By boiling it in water until it remains half. This is of great value in treating leucorrhoea.
Take 1 tsp of Coriander seeds, soak it in a glass of water overnight and drink it in the morning. Continue this for a week. This is beneficial for leucorrhoea. Betel nut is also helpful for leucorrhoea as it cures and prevents its development. So chewing Betel nut after food relieves the condition.
Make a douche from tender Guava leaves. This infusion acts as an astringent and gives beneficial results.
Rub the root of Amaranth in a cup of water, then filter it and should be taken twice a day. In case you don't get roots, leaves can be used instead of roots.
Take 2 gm of Amalaki powder with sugar or honey gives best result in leucorrhoea. This is one of the simple and besthome remedies for leucorrhoea
Amaranth is considered an excellent home remedy for leucorrhoea. The rind of the root of this plant should be rubbed in 25 ml of water. It should then be strained and given to the patient daily in the morning as well as in the evening. The root of this plant is, however, very susceptible to moths. Hence, care should be taken to see that it is not moth-eaten. In case the root is not available, its leaves and branches may be similarly processed and used.
Water treatment is extremely beneficial in curing leucorrhoea. A cold hip bath taken twice a day, for ten minutes at a time, will help relieve congestion in the pelvic region and facilitate quick elimination of morbid matter. A warm vaginal douche at 30 C to 40 C is beneficial for general cleaning and elimination of the purulent discharge. The procedure is to fill the douche can with one and a half litres of warm water and hang it at a level of three feet above the body. The patient should lie with the hips slightly raised above the body level, and the special nozzle applied for this purpose should be oiled and inserted slowly into the vagina. The flow can be regulated by the small valve of the nozzle. In several cases, the douche should be taken daily.
Homeopathic Treatment: 1. ASHOK 1X, HELONIAS 1X, XANTHOXYLUM 1X, VIBURNUM
2. ALFAFA 1X, AVENA SATIVA 1X, CINCHONA OFFICINALIS 4-6 drops 4 times a day cntinue 1 month
3. J. ASHOK 1X, HELONIAS 1X, XANTHOXYLUM 1X, VIBURNUM
4. Kreosotum 200 c, sepia 200 c 0.5 oz for chronic conditions
Unani Treatment: A regular douching of the genital tract with a decoction of the bark of the banyan tree or the fig tree is very helpful. A tablespoonful each of the powders of the bark of the trees should be boiled in a liter of water till it is reduced to half. Douching with the lukewarm decoction keeps the vaginal tract healthy and clean.
Mixed 1 cup of water with a cup of milk and boil it. Add 1 tablespoon of dry ginger to it. When it reduces to half add brown sugar to it. continue for 4- 7 weeks.
Kateera (Cochlospermum religiosum) 100 gms, Mazu (Quercus infectoria, Oliv) 100 gms.
They are to be powdered and stored. To be taken twice daily for about three to four weeks.
Singhara (Trapa bispinosa,Roxb) 100 gms, Heel khurda (Amonum subulatum,Roxb) 100 gms, Sugar 200 gms.
All above ingredients are to be powdered and stored. About 5 gms. of the powder is to be taken thrice a day for about two months.
Musli safaid (Chlorophytum arundinaceum,Baker) 100 gms. Fulfal (Chalia) (Areca catechu,Linn) 100 gms. Sugar 200 gms.
The above ingredients are to be finely powdered and taken twice daily for about one month.
Qurs Sailan 2 pills thrice a day along with Arq Badyan 60 ml for 2 months.
Majoon Supari Pak 6 gm twice a day for 3 months.
Habbe Marvaridi 2 pills thrice a day.
Majoon Mochras 6 gm twice
